Hack Your Productivity for Creating Social Media Content

Find yourself taking hours to create just one post for your social media pages?

This article will walk you through Amplified Social’s content creation process, which will boost your productivity—doubling or tripling the number of posts you can create in half the time.

First, let’s talk about what not to do. Here is the most common way people create content. Think about whether this sounds familiar. What steps would you add or take away?

  • You realize you haven’t made a post today/this week.

  • You scramble to think of content.

  • You get an idea, so you scroll through your camera roll to find a photo, or you take a new one.

  • You create a graphic.

  • You edit the picture/graphic.

  • Ah, the hard part is done. So you pop it in Instagram and . . . Oh wait, you have to write a caption.

  • Write the caption with as little thought as possible; you just want to get this done and posted.

  • Tag/hashtag/location it.

  • Post.

  • Monitor comments, likes, and shares.

Sound familiar?

If you’re doing this, it’s probably taking you an hour or two to create one social media post. When you’re done, you might even feel mentally exhausted, or like your day has passed you by. You can’t even imagine doing it all over again to create another post for tomorrow.

What’s happening here is that you’re forcing your brain to switch to very different tasks in short batches of time, which puts pressure on our thinking abilities, diminishes our creativity, and ultimately exhausts us.

Okay, let’s talk about a better way.

Instead: batch the tasks together, not the results.

Here’s what your new social media creation guide should look like in six steps. At first, try to take twenty minutes for each step. You can lengthen or shorten this time, depending on what works best for you and what time you have:

If you follow this process, you’ll probably have created ten or more posts in the same amount of time as you would have created just one! Keeping your brain, processes, and ideas on the same task will make it less exhausting, more productive, and more compelling to the audience who is consuming your posts!
